Business model: Circular economy - Healthy food - Healthy soil

With our concept, we address three global core challenges: reusing so called “waste materials“, providing access to healthy food, and approaching the erosion of soils - by initiating an economy that consumes waste. We are generating multiple revenue streams and create more value while adhering to the sustainable principles of the «Blue Economy» developed by Prof. Gunter Pauli.

USP: Waste processing - Hub network - Technologies - Terra Preta

With the smart use of different locally available residue materials, we do not only cultivate mushrooms, but also reuse our own residue materials from the mushroom production to produce Terra Preta, an incredibly fertile dark soil. At the Hengstbacherhof we created our research center for all further steps and projects.

With our hub concept we create local circular economy systems with each local Mushroom-Hub.

PROCESSING ORGANIC WASTE

Out of locally available organic waste materials, we produce high-quality mushroom substrate. By now, we have requests from over 8 different countries that want to transform their locally available organic waste into mushrooms. With our innovative process we are able to use a wide range of raw materials, at our research center we test the materials and optimize the composition for the local requirements of each Hub. We offer substrate for different edible mushrooms, which offer a great range of tasty and healthy alternatives for meat and meat products and bring great potential for the future of the food industry.

MUSHROOM HUB NETWORK

The Hub Network includes several production facilities (Hubs) worldwide. Each Hub produces mushroom-substrate out of local residue materials. The core of each Hub are the machines for the substrate production and the Terra-Preta production. Around each Hub, there are several myco-farms which grow the mushrooms on site in different locations, managed by local SME (small mushroom entrepreneurs).

MACHINE TECHNOLOGIES

Local entrepreneurs and people with a passion for sustainability and circular economy who want to start their own mushroom business get the chance to rent fully equipped myco-farms from p³ and buy other machines, e.g. modular substrate machines for coffee waste processing. The mushroom-substrate is sourced from the local p³-Hub. Training and expert advice will be provided by p³. A step by step journey to local mushroom entrepreneurship, supported by our strong mycelium network.

TERRA PRETA PRODUCTION

The used substrate of all mushroom entrepreneurs and production sites will be collected. In Each Hub we transform this “waste“ from the mushroom production into Terra-Preta, which is a very fertile dark soil. Terra Preta is able to regenerate drained soils and help our eco-systems by providing very important micro-organisms to it’s surroundings and storing water wherever needed.
